Toward the Peaceful Development of Space - 5 naye paise
This stamp highlights the theme of international space exploration and the universal aspiration for scientific advancement devoid of military conflict, featuring a bold overprint that reads "TOWARD THE PEACEFUL DEVELOPMENT OF SPACE." The background illustration depicts a stylized rocket cutting upward alongside an early orbital satellite, elements that symbolize human innovation, cosmic discovery, and the shared technological frontiers of the global Space Race. Nationally, during the mid-1960s when this stamp was circulated, Qatar was undergoing an era of infrastructure building, economic modernization driven by oil revenues, and political evolution under British protection. By issuing a stamp dedicated to the peaceful exploration of outer space, the Qatari government aligned its developing state identity with global progress and humanitarian ideals, projecting an image of a forward-looking, globally conscious nation eager to engage with the modern scientific community.
