World Population Year 1974 - 15 dirham
Issued in 1974, this stamp commemorates World Population Year, a global observance proclaimed by the United Nations to focus attention on population growth, demographic trends, family welfare, urban planning, and sustainable development. The design depicts a modern residential complex and urban environment, symbolizing the challenges and opportunities associated with population growth and the need for adequate housing, infrastructure, and community services. World Population Year sought to encourage greater awareness of the relationship between population dynamics and economic and social development. Governments around the world participated through educational campaigns, conferences, and development initiatives aimed at improving living standards and planning for future population needs. By issuing this commemorative stamp, the State of Qatar expressed its support for international efforts to address population issues and promote sustainable development. The issue highlighted the importance of urban planning, housing, public services, and social welfare in improving quality of life, while emphasizing the need to balance population growth with economic development and resource management for future generations.
