Arab Postal Union (APU) - 55 dirham
The 17th Anniversary of the Arab Postal Union (APU) in 1971 marked a significant milestone in the unification and optimization of postal communications across the Arab world. Established on April 1, 1954, the APU was founded as a specialized agency under the Arab League to foster regional solidarity, standardize postal tariffs, and streamline the exchange of mail across member states. The 1971 celebrations highlighted nearly two decades of successful inter-Arab logistical cooperation, which lowered communication barriers and enhanced cultural and economic ties throughout the region. In Middle Eastern philately, this anniversary was widely commemorated with special stamp issues featuring the union's globe-and-envelope emblem, symbolizing a shared commitment to building a modern, highly interconnected pan-Arab postal infrastructure.
